Church Rd Shared use Path Project (Grove Ave to IL-19)

This federally/locally funded project includes construction of an off-street 8-feet wide shared use path to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists along the west side of Church Rd from Grove Ave to Irving Park Rd. This project will mark the last segment of shared use path construction along Church Rd. Other infrastructure improvements included in this project are curb and gutter replacement, minor storm sewers, driveway aprons, parkway restorations, sidewalk removal, culvert extension, railing, pavement markings, pedestrian railroad crossing gates and other miscellaneous items necessary to complete the project.

Update 10/11/19

During the week of Oct 7, the contractor worked on prepping and installing the bikepath outside of the conflicts at the box culvert and railroad crossing. They also worked on adjustments of structures. 

Weather permitting, the week of Oct 14, the contractor plans pour remainder of the concrete sidewalk ramps in conflict with the utility guy wire as well as correct other sidewalk ramps that were poured incorrectly. The box culvert extension work at Silver Creek is being currently delayed due to a vertical conflict with an existing telecommunication cable. The cable is in a vertical conflict with the proposed piles for the culvert extension. Staff has forwarded the potholing results to designer to issue a revision for the box culvert work. At this time it appears that extending the box culvert will be a feasible solution. The staff is expecting to received revised plans by the end of this week.  The cable relocation can take anywhere from 6-9 months.  All the work will be done under daily lane closures and traffic will be flagged around the work zone. Traffic will be hindered during construction and long delays are expected. Please utilize alternate routes if possible.

During the week of Sep 16, the contractor worked on sidewalk and driveway removals as well as installing temporary driveways and sidewalk ramps.

Weather permitting, the week of Sep 16, the contractor plans pour the concrete sidewalk ramps and driveways during the next week. 

The box culvert extension work at Silver Creek is being currently delayed due to a vertical conflict with an existing telecommunication cable. The cable is in a vertical conflict with the proposed piles for the culvert extension. Staff has identified this is a Comcast fiber cable that serves thousands of customers and met with Comcast onsite on Friday 9-20-19. All the work will be done under daily lane closures and traffic will be flagged around the work zone. Traffic will be hindered during construction and long delays are expected. Please utilize alternate routes if possible. 

Update 09/13/19

During the week of Sep 9, the contractor worked on sidewalk and driveway removals as well as installing temporary driveways and sidewalk ramps. 

Weather permitting, the week of Sep 16, the contractor will continue to work on the sidewalk and driveway removals. The contractor also plans pour the concrete sidewalk ramps and driveways during the next week. 

The box culvert extension work at Silver Creek is being currently delayed due to a vertical conflict with an existing telecommunication cable. The cable is in a vertical conflict with the proposed piles for the culvert extension. Staff is working with utility companies to identify the owner of the utility as none of the telecommunication utility didn’t identify this conflict during design coordination. All the work will be done under daily lane closures and traffic will be flagged around the work zone. Traffic will be hindered during construction and long delays are expected. Please utilize alternate routes if possible. 

Update 08/22/19

During the week of Aug 19, the contractor worked on tree removal and silt fence installation. Weather permitting, the week of Aug 26, the contractor will work on stump grinding, saw cutting, pruning and potholing existing utilities. There is a possibility of beginning some storm sewer work in the latter of the week. All the work will be done under daily lane closures, and traffic will be flagged around the work zone. Traffic will be hindered during construction and long delays are expected. Please utilize alternate routes if possible.

Update 08/09/19

A pre-construction meeting is scheduled for Aug 12 and the project construction will begin soon thereafter. Project area residents should be receiving the project information letter within the next week.
