Municipal Electric Aggregation Suspended

The Village of Bensenville is suspending its residential electric aggregation program at the expiration of the current term of September 2019.

MC Squared will no longer be your electric supplier of choice. The Village administration has determined that outside suppliers rates are no longer competitive with the ComEd residential rate. If the Village continued the program it would not  have resulted in substantial savings for our residents.  Residents who are currently enrolled in this program do not need do anything. They will be automatically switched back to the default ComEd supply service at their September meter read cycle date.

Beware of 3rd-party energy companies going door-to-door asking to see ComEd bills. The companies may  be legitimate, but their sales tactics can be misleading. A recent Illinois Commerce Commission study reported that Illinois residents who engage in an individual supplier contract (i.e., not a Village electric aggregation program) paid an average 24% above the ComEd rate.

  • Never share your ComEd account number in person or over the telephone
  • Never allow a solicitor to see your bill
  • Never make a payment to a door-to-door solicitor or over the telephone
  • Never share your credit card number, social security number or other personal information

No solicitor is associated with the Village. If a solicitor claims otherwise, take their information and report to the ICC at http://www.icc.illinois.gov/consumer/complaint.  For more information about electric rates, visit www.PlugInIllinois.org
