Dupage Rain Barrel Program
Rain barrels are an easy and inexpensive way to store runoff where it falls, on your property. The stored water can later be used to water gardens and lawns, and is better for your plants than tap water. Barrels can be made at home or can be purchased, and installation is simple. An overflow valve diverts water away from the barrel and your foundation once the barrel is full. The overflow valve can also be used to connected multiple rain barrels.

The Conservation Foundation sells rain barrels made from recycled food and beverage containers. Rain barrels are a great way to store runoff for use in lawns and gardens.

In April of 2009, The Conservation Foundation sold rain barrels, partially subsidized by DuPage County Stormwater Management to County employees. Over 250 rain barrels were purchased.

In May of 2009, The Conservation Foundation sold over 125 rain barrels to DuPage County residents at a Native Plant and Rain Barrel Sale held at the DuPage County Fair Grounds.
