2016 Village Water Main Replacement Project (River Forest Dr & River Forest Ct)
June 16, 2016 Update- The Village of Bensenville would like to thank you for your continued patience and cooperation with the ongoing water main replacement project. The project is approximately 70% completed to date. The mainline water main as well as service installation have been completed. The contractor has also completed installation of spot curb and gutter, sidewalk and driveway aprons.
On June 14, 2016, the paving sub-contractor begin to grind 2-inches of existing surface on River Forest Ct (RFC) and River Forest Dr (RFD). Upon grinding, we discovered the asphalt layer underneath was starting to show alligator cracking at various spots across the pavement, especially along the east curb edge of RFC and north edge of RFD. Based on the pavement conditions witnessed after the grinding took place, the scope of work for pavement needs to be altered. Assuming it will pass the proof roll, the initial thought process was to edge grind (7-feet wide by 7-inch deep) and patch along the east curb edge of RFC and north edge of RFD. However, the results of the proof roll indicated that edge grinding will likely work short term before the pavement begins to show signs of failure. Given the current field conditions, results of the proof roll, consultation with industry professionals and keeping in mind the longevity of the roadway, staff recommended to the Village Board to reconstruct the entire roadways on both RFC and RFD. River Forest Dr & River Forest Ct
The Village of Bensenville is undertaking a watermain replacement project in the vicinity of your home in the spring of 2016. The project consists of replacing approximately 1,200 linear feet of watermain along River Forest Ct and River Forest Dr. As part of this project, the Village will also be replacing water service up to the existing b-box, conducting spot curb and gutter repairs, spot sidewalk repairs, some driveway aprons anticipated to be impacted by the construction, roadway resurfacing, removing the islands from the cul-de-sacs, parkway restoration and other miscellaneous items as necessary.
