George St Culvert Replacement
The original corrugated metal pipe culverts under George St (located approximately 850 feet east of York Rd) have been severely deteriorated and are long past its useful life. The Village applied for and received funding for this project through the DuPage County Community Development Block Grant Program.

The scope of work includes removal of the existing culvert and replacing it with a concrete box culvert with wing walls. As part of the project we will also be replacing the existing sidewalk and pavement over and immediately adjacent to the culvert. George St Culvert Replacement Project Update- 12/12/2016
As of December 1, 2016, George St has been opened to traffic. The culvert installation has been completed along with pavement patching, landscape restoration, sidewalk installation as well as revetment installation. The remaining work items are guardrail installation, creek cleanup and site cleanup. Weather permitting, these items will be completed over the next few weeks under a daily lane closure.

George St Culvert Replacement Project Update- 10/24/2016
Due to an unforeseen utility conflict the construction of the project is currently on hold. The Village is working with the contractor as well as utility companies to identify the unknown utility which is in direct conflict with the proposed box culvert. At this time, the anticipated completion date has been postponed to November 30, 2016. We apologize for the inconvenience. Please continue to use the posted detour.

George Street is anticipated to be closed to through traffic to replace the existing culvert from September 26, 2016 to October 31, 2016. Please utilize the posted detour route during construction. Click here for Project Location Map.
