Healthy Family Fun a Way of Life in Bensenville

BENSENVILLE, IL -On Saturday September 13, 2014 the Bensenville Community Youth Services Coalition welcomed hundreds of guests to the first ever B-Well Walkathon & Family Fest.

B-Well Bensenville is a community-wide initiative created by the Youth Coalition whose goal is to encourage Bensenville’s young people and families to achieve healthier lifestyles by promoting the activities and resources available within the community. This initiative takes a prevention-driven approach to health, supporting policies and environmental changes that promote healthy eating and active living in neighborhoods, schools and workplaces. The Youth Coalition is comprised of members from all of the Village’s taxing bodies as well as the DuPage County Health Department, various churches, and healthcare organizations throughout Bensenville”...

We’re lovin’ it! Bensenville Celebrates McDonald’s Grand Opening


BENSENVILLE, IL -Doors opened for the first time at 11am Friday September 12, 2014 at a new McDonald’s located at 302 West Irving Park Road in Bensenville.

Besides the thrill of opening the doors for the first time, McDonald’s owner/operator Dennis Cha is also excited to become a member of the Bensenville community, “We want to be more than a restaurant. We want to be a good neighbor." stated Mr. Cha

Bensenville Police Facility Awarded $6.8 Million in Energy Conservation Bond


BENSENVILLE, IL -On Tuesday, September 9th, 2014 the DuPage County Board approved the award of an $6.8 million Qualified Energy Conservation Bond (QECB) for the construction of a new police facility which broke ground in November of 2013.

“I would like to thank the entire DuPage County Board and Chairman Dan Cronin for approval of a QECB.” Said Village President Frank Soto “We are proud to have the County’s support for this significant project helping to keep Bensenville the safe community it is for decades to come.”

QECB’s are a taxable tax credit bond. The issuer of the bonds is eligible for a 70% rebate on the interest paid to the bondholders. By qualifying for these energy conservation bonds the Village will save up to $1 million in interest costs.

Governor Quinn Visits Bensenville for New Wastewater Treatment Plant Project


BENSENVILLE, IL -On June 19th, 2014 Governor Pat Quinn held a press conference at the Village of Bensenville’s Public Works facility for a New Wastewater Treatment Plant Upgrade Project.

Over the next two years, Williams Brothers Construction, Inc. will be converting the nearly 70 year old plant to a state of the art facility. The project will cost approximately $30 million to complete. The project is focusing on simplifying operations and providing processes intended to improve water quality on the receiving streams/creeks.

“I would like to thank Governor Quinn and the State of Illinois for helping to fund this necessary infrastructure project, which is being completed without having to raise taxes.” stated Village President Frank Soto “Besides providing a direct benefit to our residents and business this project will also help create jobs and put people back to work.”...

Village of Bensenville Home Values Rise 9.7%


BENSENVILLE, IL -Bensenville posted one of the highest percentage increases in single-family home prices in the northwest suburbs experiencing a 9.7% increase from 2012 vs 2013 tracked by CoreLogic Case-Shiller. CoreLogic Case-Shiller computes a single-family price index for each ZIP code by matching up repeat sales of the same property.

The Village of Bensenville has been very aggressive in their efforts to stabilize and increase home values. The Strategic Plan includes a Neighborhood Stabilization Program (NSP) which has helped create this sharp increase in home values...

Bensenville Breaks Ground on New McDonald’s


BENSENVILLE, IL -On Thursday May 22, 2014 the Village of Bensenville held a groundbreaking ceremony to welcome the construction of a new McDonald’s restaurant on Irving Park Road just west of York Road.

The groundbreaking ceremony included representatives from McDonald’s, owner/operator Dennis Cha, as well as Bensenville’s Village President Frank Soto and fellow Trustees, and even Ronald McDonald lent a helping hand.

“This new McDonald’s is one of many major investments to the Irving Park Road Corridor and we are excited to welcome them,” stated Village President Frank Soto. “McDonald’s is not only a company with a reputation and history of success, but they are also proven contributors to the communities they serve through participation in special events and philanthropy.”

O’Hare Airport Noise Reduction a Top Priority for Bensenville


BENSENVILLE, IL -The Village of Bensenville embarks on a new path seeking solutions related to the increased noise levels caused by the commissioning of Runway 10C/28C on October 17, 2013 at O’Hare International Airport. Bensenville is situated directly west of the new runway, resulting in significantly increased noise complaints from Bensenville residents. As such, Bensenville’s Board of Trustees is working to identify solutions to mitigate the negative impacts of the new runway.

“The Village of Bensenville is actively working to identify different methods to address the concerns of our residents over the increased noise caused by Runway 10C/28C. Progress towards noise mitigation now can proactively address future issues for other new runways planned at O’Hare” said Village President Frank Soto...
