[ARCHIVED] Quietzone Horn Testing

publicworks02.jpg

The Village of Bensenville is looking into the best options available to establish a 24 hour train horn Quiet Zone in Downtown Bensenville. One possible option is the installation of a wayside horn near the intersection of York Rd. & Railroad Drive. This horn would blow a concentrated sound along York Road rather than trains blowing their horns across all rail road crossings in town.

At 5:30PM today, May 7, 2013 the Village will be testing the wayside horn near the intersection of York Rd. & Railroad Drive. We will be holding a demonstration of this horn to asses this option and gather community input.

During this half hour time frame, the wayside train horn will be sounded multiple times. We encourage you to either witness the horn live at Village Hall or remain at your place of residence or business and listen during this time frame. We would greatly appreciate your thoughts and opinions after this wayside horn demonstration.

Please call Public Works at 630-350-3435 or email quietzone@bensenville.il.us to voice your opinion as we move forward exploring options to reduce the noise of train horns in Downtown Bensenville.
